Zigzag Play Rug in two oranges with black lining

A design drawn freehand and inspired by a tiny fragment of some textile of unknown origin. In retrospect the black outlining of areas of flattish colour is very reminiscent of comic art, though that was not a conscious part of the design process. Instead I was attracted by the tension between the two different oranges. The colour changes are done by clasped wefts on the back of the rug disguised by the shaft switched black coming to the surface. Decoratively one sided. Three end block weave with shaft switching and hand manipulation. Cotton warp, carpet wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
