Waves Combined 2c

A geometric design arising out of playing with sine waves, a design route I take semi-regularly. The factor that lifts this rug out of the ordinary for me is the fascinating mottling in the red areas. This arises from the plying together of 5 strands of thin bright red and a single strand of a brownish maroon to make the “recycled” red weft.
The two warp rug weave based on tabby with shaft switching. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet and recycled wools weft and carpet wool weaving warp. Finish philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 890 x 1400 mm. $1120.
