Twill Curves Sine Wave in yellow and green

This is one of a series of rugs based on the idea of weaving twill on opposites and not progressing the twill in the normal manner. Instead the design is generated by shifting the twill repeats systematically to make repeating curves. This design is based on two complete cycles of the sine wave. Sine waves appear all over mathematics and nature. Probably the most familiar examples would be a pure musical note or the wave from a single pebble dropped into a still pool. 2-2 twill weave. Cotton warp, carpet wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
