Twill Curves Parabolic Arches in blue and red
This is one of a series of rugs based on the idea of weaving twill on opposites and not progressing the twill in the normal manner. Instead the design is generated by shifting the twill repeats systematically to make repeating curves. This design is based on the parabola which is the curve a thrown ball will follow (if you neglect air resistance). Rather than a single curve the design is repeated which would be the path followed by a ball bouncing perfectly i.e. as high on a bounce as the previous bounce. 2-2 twill weave. Cotton warp, carpet wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
