Test Piece for PWN Ngahere exhibition Supplejack
This was done to test out an idea for the Professional Weavers Network Ngahere exhibition. I used wefts that I had left over from other projects particularly the brown with pale ticking and the dark greens which are all thin worsted yarns plied together to make carpet wool equivalent. The black supplejack sprawling through the bush worked well and while the speckled green made an effective background it was not quite right for the subject. While it did prove that that approach could be made to work with the right colours to put together it was not the route I eventually took. Decoratively one sided. Three end block weave with shaft switching and hand manipulation. Cotton warp, carpet and other wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
