Stripes Idea 1 in Grey and Burnt Orange

The inspiration for this design was a reflection in a car’s front grill that I noticed fortuitously in a car park in Wellington. Geometrically it is just an implied triangle but, for me, it is more than that as the ratios between the stripes, the “gaps” and the widening of the triangle captures attention. This relatively simple design was also a test bed for a rethreading of the weaving warp to 1,2,3,4 allowing, in this case, 2-2 twill.
The orange marl weaving warp almost disappears on the burnt orange weft but shows the weave structure on the grey.
The two warp rug weave based on 2-2 twill with shaft switching. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weaving warp and wefts. Finish modified philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 900 x 1400 mm. Sold.
