Semi-experimental warp
White, black and red panels
The first fully serious warp of the two warp rug weave, though, that said, still experimenting. The stuffer warps were set up in Fibonacci sequence stripes and a weaving warp of a variegated marl. The design is of four panels in a strong contrast, each woven in a differing weave structure. The first in black and white in basket weave, a variation on tabby where each pick is put through twice. The second in red and black in turned Russian twill with double picks. The third in white and red in twill. The final block in black and white uses different weave structures for the two blocks. While each panel worked well to tolerably well the transitions between the different weave structures were more problematic. The rug will not quite lie flat and has surface ridges to an unacceptable degree. Two warp rug weave based on tabby, twills and related with 2 blocks. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weft and weaving warp. Finish philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in.
