Semi-experimental warp
Mustard versus brown/grey etc panels
The first fully serious warp of the two warp rug weave, though, that said, still experimenting with the weave structure of the weaving warp. The stuffer warps were set up in Fibonacci sequence stripes and a weaving warp of a variegated marl threaded 1-2-3-4 which allows tabby and various twill and related weaves. The weaving warp has white in the marl on one side of the rug. The design is essentially centre symmetric though one end panel uses an orange in place of a palish green-grey. The range of earth tone colours were chosen to take advantage of the somewhat odd weaving warp. The two outer panels are woven in twill giving the characteristic diagonal twill lines. The centre panel, however, is in broken twill which causes the weaving warp to stand slightly above the surface of the rug giving a pleasing bobbly texture. Two warp rug weave based on tabby, twill and broken twill with 2 blocks. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weft and weaving warp. Finish philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in.
