Rosepath Variations in Raspberry and Greens
Rosepath is a class of traditional weaves known for the intricate patterns that they can produce. Here I started with a simple 4 shaft Rosepath threading in one of my “design as you go” exercises with raspberry and a set of greens as colour choice and a rule of symmetry then experimented with what patterns and elements that I could generate. I limited myself to balanced weave sequences i.e. 2 shafts versus 2 shafts to make a rug that would lie flat. The Rosepath threading tends to generate slightly curved motifs on the top surface where I designed and some weirdly interesting more broken motifs on the reverse. The rug is reversible. The weave is rosepath. Finished full Damascus edge. Cotton warp, wool weft.
