Rosepath Rug based on Yellow
Rosepath is a class of traditional weaves known for the intricate patterns that they can produce but they are weaves where both the warp and the weft contribute to the patterns. However, for these rugs only the weft makes the surface pattern so I was interested in what could be done in this structure. Here I started with a simple 4 shaft Rosepath threading in one of my “design as you go” exercises with yellow as colour choice and a rule of symmetry then experimented with what patterns and elements that I could generate. The Rosepath threading tends to generate slightly curved motifs on the top surface where I designed and some weirdly interesting broken motifs on the reverse. The rug is reversible. Cotton warp wool weft.
