Penrose Tiling 2 design 2 in gold and silver
Penrose tiling, a discovery of Rodger Penrose, covers a plane with shapes (tiles) with local 5 fold symmetry, something classically thought not possible. It has since been found to happen in nature in metallic glasses. It uses two tiles, called kites and darts, and more than one arrangement is possible. This arrangement was chosen as it shows off the 5 fold symmetry with the star and pentagon shapes, the other arrangement seems at first glance more random. A different framing and proportions to version 1. Three end block weave with shaft switching. Cotton warp, carpet wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
