Octagonal tiling based design in red and blue/green
The design arose from a diagram of some tiling, you can regularly tile a plain with large octagons and small squares to fill the gaps, which reminded me of the ancient and worn tiles in my grandmothers house. I progressively modified the simple line diagram to avoid what would be just a web of straight lines and introducing curves for visual interest. Additionally a set of the shapes were emphasised by making the lines delineating them a bit thicker. The design as woven is slightly elongated top to bottom. Three end block weave with shaft switching. Cotton warp, carpet wool weft. Finish Damascus edge.
