Escher Inspired Rivers
The design was very loosely inspired by one of Escher’s drawings (day-and-night-1938-M. C. Escher) and was developed for the Professional Weavers Network “Rivers, Metaphor of a Journey” exhibition, though in the end I did not enter it.
The weaving warp is pale on one side and darker transitioning to charcoal on the other side indicating day/night or, as in my original set of ideas, pre and post industry and pollution.
The two warp rug weave based on tabby with shaft switching. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weaving warp and wefts. Finish modified philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 890 x 1410 mm. $1270.
