Colour Windows Green with Colours
This series of rugs was inspired by a water-colour paint palette, an illustration in a book on bound-weave and me wanting to frame the areas of colour. I wanted to avoid tapestry techniques (very slow and fiddly) and over bulky-weaves and so I experimented to use three colours in a block weave whilst maintaining a strong durable structure without long floats. The weave I devised used five shuttles, needed extra tie-down warps, and was quite fiddly to set-up but the results justified it. Here I used clasped weft technique to add the extra colour elements. This rug is non reversible. Cotton warp wool weft.
