Celtic Band Knot Design

A knot design based on a rough sketch of an original simply titled “Celtic band” that was longer and thinner, part of a border I think. I compressed it to get suitable proportions for a rug and because I found the changed version more pleasing. The yellow/brown marl weaving warp becomes speckles in the natural berber weft but contrasts with the violet. The weave structure was chosen to give no obvious “direction” or small scale pattern to detract from the large scale design.
The two warp rug weave based on turned broken 2-2 twill skip on 3s with shaft switching. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weaving warp wefts. Finish modified philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 890 x 1460 mm. $1170.
