Braided River 1 (diagram design)

A braided river consists of a network of multiple shallow channels that diverge and rejoin around ephemeral braid bars. This gives the river a fancied resemblance to the interwoven strands of a braid. The design was based on diagrams of how the multiple channels form, branch, coalesce and evolve. The inspiration hit me fully formed down to the colour choices when discussing rivers.
The two warp rug weave based on tabby with shaft switching. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weft and weaving warp. Finish philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 890 x 1300 mm. $1040.
