Blue Crosses on Seven Panels
Reversible, woven in the boundweave 6-end 2-tie unit weave with shaft switching. This was the result of one of my less wild “design as you go” exercises where I start with a given warp, a couple of colour choices and a self imposed rule or two (usually as in this case symmetry) but add in elements and inventions as I weave. The side with the simpler motifs was the one I designed and was probably, though unconsciously, influenced by the centenary of the WWI ANZAC landings at Gallipoli. The reverse side is partly serendipitous but as often happens with these things is the more satisfyingly complex.
Cotton warp wool weft.
