1 Block design, space dyed versus colour blocks
For the Black Mountains rug I had space dyed green over natural weft with the spacing chosen so as to not be a multiple of the rug width. The weft on the plain side of the rug was the other one of these dying experiments. The black separators on the front was very much inspired by comic art. I had tried adding in black over the diagonal transitions by the same technique that I used above, however, it added a ridge on top of the existing ridge from the clasped wefts of the colour change.
The two warp rug weave based on tabby with hand manipulation. Cotton stuffer warp, carpet wool weaving warp and wefts. Finish modified philippine edge with weaving warps darned back in. 900 x 1390 mm. $1130.
